Our Evolution - HIP Edmonton 2016

Managing Principal Architect Sherri Shorten founded the company in 2000 and registered the practice in 2006. In 2016, the firm SAS Architecture embraced a deeper commitment to sustainable design, housing innovation, and climate action. That same year, we launched Housing Innovation Partnerships Edmonton (HIP Edmonton), a research and design initiative advancing new housing models to support Canada's National Housing Strategy.

Our integrated project delivery and visioning approach ensures community voices are woven into every step of the design process, leading to vibrant, well-received developments that reflect local needs and values.

Featured Collaborations

This firm has contributed expertise to several recognizable projects: the National Housing Strategy, Halal Affordable Housing for Larger Families; The Grove on 17- Affordable Housing, Construction Services for Number Ten Architecture Group; renovations to the washrooms at the Peter Hemingway Pool; Grant MacEwan’s Allard Hall, building envelope detailing working with Reimagine; and Shumka Stage detailed design, Millenium Park, for Doug Carlyle Landscape Architect.
